Looking for the win, Harper and the Phils are in a semi-groove

The Phillies are clinging on to the outside chance to make the playoffs by winning ballgames, they won their third straight last night in Cincinnati. How did the do it? Mainly by scoring runners in scoring position, the Phils were 5-12 last night, again having plenty of opportunities to score runners on base.

The Phils are still 2.5 GB in the wild card though even with winning, because the Cubs keep winning, but that's what the Phils need to go out there and do, win.

The Mets, who the Phillies did have a bit of a problem with the other week and who were chasing a wild card spot that the Phillies want, were up 6 runs on a hot Washington Nationals team going into the 9th inning last night, the Nats stormed back on them and won the ballgame walk-off style 11-10. The Phillies will face the Nationals for 5 games towards the end of this month.

For the Phillies the chance remains very slim to make the playoffs, they have to win of course, but the other wild card chasers have to lose to get them into position, right now Phillies fans need to watch the Cubs first and foremost and hope they lose, then the Diamondbacks who are right on the heels of the Phillies.

It's a long season, but it's going to be wrapping up soon, can the Phils continue to hang tough, they have had many chances to show that they are indeed a playoff team, but couldn't come through. The games that they needed to win, they really couldn't. Getting streaks of winning, was a foreign term to this team. The time in mid=June when this team was swept by the Braves and then the Marlins back-to-back was a real down moment for the club. There were many down moments though. Scoring base runners have been a real problem for a lot of games with this ballclub.

It's Aaron Nola night, as the Phillies look to continue their winning ways.
