Phils bashed on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball 10-1

Santana with his huge gawdy gold chain on slides into home to score against the Phils, we didn't see this Santana in Philly very much

It was one of those games that the Phillies again reverted back to Jekyll and Hyde like characteristics. This team can't seem to play good on several successive games, they play good one or two games then look terrible in a short time, that's the terrible Phillies that showed up for ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball last night, as they were thumped 10-1 on national TV.

Competitors have still scored 11 more runs than the Phillies all year, and now the Phils are the sole proprietors of 4th place in the NL East, below the Mets and above the Marlins. This team has earned every bit of that. Despite the talk that we heard from Gabe Kapler about a team that is scratching and clawing, there isn't any real evidence of that.

Duh, which way did it go boss ...

Vince Velasquez should move on after this season, he's a pitcher that is up and down and mainly down, the Phillies can't rely on pitchers like him. When they do, you'll see seasons like they are having now. It's been a few seasons like this now, with this bunch, Pivetta, Velasquez, and even Eflin. There needs to be a massive change in this pitching lineup. There always did need to be, but nothing was ever done about it.

I do my best not to listen to anything Gabe Kapler says after a game, it's all fluff designed to make you feel everything isn't as bad as it looks. The Kapler experiment should be over in this town, he's come into a role that he never has done before this Phillies stint, and hasn't delivered. Someone should be getting a chance to turn this team around. It isn't Kapler.

In 6 days it will be the end of the regular season, another big disappointment from the Phillies, a team that couldn't get it done on the field. They had a few injuries, but the personnel that was assembled for this team is lacking, it's a reflection on the President's office and GM, they are the guys that are responsible for what goes on and have been for a while now.

MacPhail hasn't done much to improve the Phillies to get them into the postseason since he's been hired in 2015

The only thing fans can do is vote with their dollars, don't buy tickets to see such a travesty on the field. Doing so only sends a message that you're happy with what you're seeing. We're stuck on stupid in this current management from the President's office on down. And this is a town that deserves better. MacPhail and Klentak aren't the guys either. John Middleton and the ownership of the Phillies have to be disappointed with what they are seeing.
