Phils can't get 2nd win in AZ behind 15 H

Jake Arrieta gets another start with the Phils last night in AZ, didn't do that bad

The Phils relied on the bullpen kind of early last night behind a Jake Arrieta start that went fairly well when he went 5 innings giving up 5 H and only 2 runs. Ranger Suarez came in and gave up 2 R on 2 H to get the blown save, and loss in this game. Again a tougher bullpen may have been able to hold this game for the Phils. The final score was 8-4.

Harper last night, 1-5 with a strikeout - we need better from him again

In the game the Phillies pounded out 15 H but were only 2 for 17 with RISP - they should have easily won this game, but didn't do to not being clutch with runners in scoring position. Wasted chances were plentiful for the Phillies as the Dbacks committed 3 errors on the night again.

This game should have been a gift, the Dbacks were trying to hand the game to the Phils, but they didn't get the runners home to score the runs to do it. The Phillies left a whole 26 runners on base during this game, it's frustrating to say the least, how this team just can't advance runners. It's been that way all season.

The Braves, Nationals, and Mets all won last night, while the Phillies lose. The Phils move to 59-54 on the year, Washington is 6.0 GB from the Braves, the Phillies are 7.0 and the Mets are now 8.5 GB from the NL East leader Braves.

Not much more to say about this team right now, they go out and win one, they lose one, then they win a pair, and lose a pair. It's an extremely inconsistent team at this point that can't find a groove. Winning isn't something that they can do regularly.

The Arizona series wraps up tonight, again at 9:40 PM - with the Jason Vargas getting his 2nd start as a Phillie, vs Zac Gallen, who is local to the Phillies, born in Gibbsboro, NJ and pitching for the Diamondbacks.
