Arrieta delivering a pitch last night, FOX Sports brought up a fact that by the third time through the batting order, teams are slugging Jake's pitches

The Phils have arrived at the final game before the All Star Break for 2019, the team suffered a loss 6-5 last night in NY in a rain delayed match up that saw a controversy with Jake Arrieta  and the hitters that he hit in the game (Alonzo, Frazier, Rosario). He threw a few pitches that didn't break, and the batters did very little to get out of the way of the ball as well, both benches were warned, then Arrieta hit someone else. Phillies had plenty of chances in this game, going 2-15 with RISP.

FightinPhillies blog advice to Frazier, move when a pitch is coming at you!

I really don't think he was aiming to hit people, which is one reason the Phillies lost the lead in the game and eventually ended up losing the game last night. Pitchers use to pitch to batters inside, the batter would generally get out of the way of the pitch, but lately batters aren't use to this style of pitching, and that may be another reason the home run rate is up so much, pitchers just don't move the ball around a whole lot it seems.

Todd Frazier 3B for the Mets got thrown out last night, after he continually complained about getting hit, he looked as if he would charge the mound, Arrieta later after the game said that Frazier would have a dent in his head because of all of this. A little emotion showing from both sides here.  NY Mets manager Mickey Callaway was also thrown out of the game by umpire Tripp Gibson.

The Phillies have chugged into the All Star Break with only the single game remaining this afternoon in NY. The team sits at 46-43 this morning before the break, and with all of the good things that the Phillies have done this season, they are almost back to being a .500 ballclub. What happened to the team we saw in the first two months?

The All Star Break will give all players except JT Realmuto for the Phillies a few days break from the game. The 90th All Star Game being played in Cleveland this year. We have to wait until 2026 to host the All Star Game in Philadelphia - a full 7 years away. Citizens Bank Park will be 22 years old when this game is played next in Philly.

Stay tuned to the blog for an All Star Break recap with the Phillies with numbers and opinions on what has happened to this team during the first 'half' of the season as this break is generally known as.
