Dodgers in position to sweep Phillies in LA

He's not the Fresh Prince of Belair but Will Smith of the Dodgers gets the cold shower after his game winning hit last night

The Phillies have struggled against the NL West leading, LA Dodgers. They dropped both games so far in the three game series out in LA. It's tough to watch the whole game out of the West Coast if you get up early in the a.m. to work. Well, the Phils dropped the second game out in LA last night, not by a big amount, but a 4-3 score as we saw Hector Neris give up a walk-off HR to Will Smith of the Dodgers, no he wasn't the Fresh Prince of Belair either.

It was Will Smith's first walk-off homer of his career he's 24 and in his first MLB season, and it was the 2nd loss of the year for Neris, but Neris does already have 10 Saves on the year, when last year he had a total of 11 the whole season.

We can only hope the Phillies turn it around this afternoon in Dodgertown, with the game starting up at 4:10 PM local time. The Phils look to avoid the sweep with Nick Pivetta on the mound today. It was kind of a tough loss as the Phillies did come back to take the lead in a close ballgame last night but Neris couldn't put the game away.

The Phils face the edgy lefty, Rich Hill, today as this follows up the game in which the team faced Clayton Kershaw, who didn't earn the win last night. We've yet to see Cody Bellinger get loose yet for the Dodgers, hopefully the Phillies can keep him in check. They will have to dig in today to avoid a sweep and a bad showing against another first place ball club.

The win by the Dodgers last night gave them the 40th win of the year so far at the expense of the Phillies. Over in the NL Central, it's the first place Cubs trying to avoid a sweep by the Cardinals today, so it hasn't been easy for the Cubbies either.
