Arrieta can't find his stuff of old, Phils drop first game in LA

JT Realmuto and Jake Arrieta share some strategy last night, Arrieta got hit with the long ball though

We knew going into the series that the LA Dodgers were a very good team, and last night, they showed it. Jake Arrieta, who after putting in his last couple of nice starts together, got hit around last night and the Phillies offense couldn't overcome it, leading to a 6-3 loss in Dodgertown last night.

Arrieta delivers another pitch last night in the loss, he hasn't been reliable on the mound so far this year with his 5th loss

Arrieta fell to 5-5 on the season, giving up 5 ER and of that, a total of 3 HR on the night. It was close into the bottom of the 5th, so it's not all Arrieta's fault as the Phillies offense just couldn't get active last night. In a close game though, it's moments like these that you need a bit more from your star pitcher who is earning a premium dollar to pitch on the team.

The Dodgers are doing well this year, but it seems that a lot of their fans in the LA area can't even watch their games because they are exclusive to a channel called SportsNet LA which the Dodgers own. The channel hasn't been able to reach agreements with the biggest cable providers in the LA area, and hence, the Dodgers broadcasts aren't seen by many of the fans.

LA is a star struck city, last night a few of those stars were out at the ballpark as it was LGBT Night at Dodger Stadium. That is all well and good, with all of these special nights for special occasions, is there a night for dare I say, 'regular' folks with old fashioned values? You know a special celebration for that, normalcy in a un-normal world? No, I guess not, that isn't going to get some headlines and news reports, so I guess we'll just have to keep honoring the special interest groups because that is the status quo at the moment.

Game 2 doesn't get much easier for the Phils, we face Clayton Kershaw (5-0 with a 3.46 ERA) who this year is by far not the Dodgers best player with his 0.6 WAR rating (Cody Bellinger is the best for the Dodgers when it comes to WAR with a bawdy 5.4 WAR), but we know the uncanny lefty will be strong on the mound as he usually always is. Can the Phillies bats get to him? We'll know at 10:10

PM this afternoon as the Phils and the Dodgers square off again in Tinseltown. (Best player on the Phils when it comes to WAR so far? Zach Eflin with a 2.0)
