The US Navy Leapfrogs helped open the season at CBP for the Phillies yesterday

The Phillies arrived at CBP yesterday on a mission. The simple mission was to win on Opening Day and they accomplished that with a barrage of offense that was unleashed very early in the game against the NL East champs Atlanta Braves yesterday.

By the time it was all over, the Phillies scored 10 runs to the Braves 4 on the day. The Phils scored their runs on 7 hits, which started off with a Andrew McCutchen home run to lead off the game. Another home run was added by Maikel Franco, a 3 run shot in the 6th, and then Rhys Hoskins hit a Grand Slam in the 7th inning.

Stellar pitching by Aaron Nola earned him his first win on the year. Nola had 8 SO on the day, and only gave up 2 H in the process. Neris, Robertson, and Neshak each played a part in closing out the Opening Day win each pitching 1 inning.

Bryce Harper went hitless with a walk for his first appearance in a Phillies uniform. He must have felt the energy of CBP though, because the fans had it rocking after the home runs hit by all three players who hit one, especially the Grand Slam hit by Hoskins.

JT Realmuto also went hitless in his first game as a Phillie, he did score a run though, as did Bryce Harper in the game. Realmuto walked once in the game yesterday.

The two teams will be off today, and finish up this series on Saturday and Sunday for the first series of the season. The game Saturday will be a 4:05 PM start, and be the FS1 Saturday game. Nick Pivetta is scheduled to start for the Phillies.

All in all, a great Opening Day from the team, you can't ask for much more. Phillies fever is starting to climb with fans who were previously drifting away from the team. A lot of excitement is building with this ballclub.

The spikes worn by Bryce Harper were absolutely awesome, as the TV just could not do them justice.. The Phillie Phanatic peeking out there is just priceless, one of the best shoes, I've ever seen a member of the Phillies wear! :)
