Phillies head toward the abyss of bad baseball teams, now 10 GB

The Phils batters could not solve Yu Darvish last night in Arlington, TX

With last night's loss to the Texas Rangers, the Phillies crossed a threshold that many teams that are bad do. They are now a full 10 GB as they are 14-22 (.389) on the season and an incredibly bad 4-16 on the road.

The Phillies were even passed in the standings by the Atlanta Braves, who are in third place. Now, in the NL East it's the Phillies in 4th place and the Marlins occupying the basement.

Yu Darvish showed why he is one of the league's better pitchers last night, as Phillies batters flailed away at bad pitches. We don't see the Phils look that bad at the plate all in one game, but last night several Phillies did look bad, like Odubel Herrera and Freddie Galvis who were trying to golf balls off the ground at several points. They obviously didn't do any video work on how Darvish pitches.

Eickhoff got his 4th loss of the year, he's 0-4 on the season. He didn't look that bad, but the Phillies couldn't get anything off of Darvish, Yu struck out 9 on the night and the Phillies committed 2 errors in the game.

Mike Napoli, who raised his batting average up to .183 in this game, had a very good night going 3-3 with 2 RBI in the game for the Rangers. Freddie Galvis had the lone RBI for the Phillies. The Phils take on the Rangers again at 8:05 PM local time and then on Thursday at 2:05 PM before they head out to Pittsburgh for a weekend series to end the road trip.
