Another game, another huge loss for Phils

Saunders gives the ball a ride into the stands last night for the only runs the Phillies would score

The Phils lost again 7-2 against the Colorado Rockies, bringing the season total to 15-29. What happened to this baseball team? The team is now 1-9 in their last 10 games, and can't seem to hit a baseball no matter who is on the mound opposing them.

The team is now the worst team in all of baseball as they have slipped from a respectable position in the NL East to the basement in a matter of two weeks time. They have the fewest wins of any Major League team. They've extended another losing streak now to 5 games.

Last night the Phillies opposed Tyler Chatwood pitching for the Rockies, who brought his 3-6 with a 5.09 ERA into the game and the Phillies could only get 1 hit off of him. The Phillies countered with Jeremy Hellickson, who surrendered 7 runs in the 3rd inning last night.

The cause of all of this lack of good play by the Phils is puzzling. It's like something from the twilight zone, they were sailing along pretty good almost a month ago, then they hit the rode to LA and the team because a losing machine. Perhaps they've grown accustomed to losing?

The Phils were winning so greatly against Colorado when they had bad teams over the years, in fact the Phils record prior to these losses was the best against any team they have faced at CBP since 8-5-2009, the Phils had gone 20-8 against the Rockies at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phils just look uninspired, like they probably have better things that they would rather be doing. Yesterday, on a radio interview, manager Pete Mackanin said that the Phillies just have to remain positive and try to do the best that they can do.

Maikel Franco has been sitting out 2 games now, his lack of offense was probably the reason. Hellickson dropped to 5-2 on the year. Michael Saunders managed to hit a HR last night with 1 runner on to give the Phillies a total of 2 runs with only 3 total hits on the night.
