New record set, Phils bring out bats

You never know what you're going to see when you go to the ballpark. Last night was the first night game of the year for the Phils and the team brought out the bats as they scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 1st.

The Phillies scored all those 1st inning runs without hitting a HR in the inning. All of the runs came courtesy of 3 doubles, a triple, and 4 walks.

It's games like these that make you wonder if the Phillies have finally found something great. Let the good times roll, what a difference from Opening Day in Philly.

Michael Saunders was one hit away from hitting for the cycle. "In my eyes he hit for the cycle", Pete MacKanin said in the post game interview. Howie Kendrick smacked a bases clearing triple later in the game after the 12 run bottom of the first.

"The big story for me was Nola, I think he needed a good performance for his own confidence...", Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said in the postgame interview. Nola had been on the radar for doing really great things with the team soon after he was drafted as the 7th pick in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft.
