Phils to play the best team in baseball tonight

The Phils should want to pay the Cubs back for the series in Chicago in which they were swept

Don't look now, but the Phillies will be playing a series with the best team in baseball starting tonight, the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are overall 36-16, which is 22-8 at home and 17-8 on the road.

They have the best team in baseball so far record wise. they have a +141 run scoring differential against their opponents (The Cubs have the best run differential in the MLB) . The Phillies have a -49 runs scored against their opponents, that is the difference between a great team and a team that cannot score runs.

The Cubs are sitting on some milestones for some of their players, David Ross needs 1 RBI for 300 in his career, Jason Heyward needs 1 HR for 100 Career HR's (he's been in the league for his 7th season, and that calls for a $184M contract?) .

To get on the subject of Heyward and that ridiculous contract, at this age he is compared to Jeff Francoeur and Lloyd Moseby at his age according to Baseball-Reference.com, hardly guys that you hear mentioned for either a Hall of Fame trip or even a superstar type of player. Heyward is batting .223 on the year with only 2 HR and 19 RBI, this may be the worst contract in baseball but it is hidden now by the success that the Cubs are having so far.

The Cubs stop at Philadelphia for the only time this year, they have a 9-game road trip that will see them travel to Atlanta, and Washington DC after the stop here in Philly.

Tonight, it's Adam Morgan going against Jon Lester, that sounds like a lopsided match up right from the start. Morgan has been short of terrible for the Phillies in 2016, he's 1-4 with a 7.07 ERA  so far this year and for his career he is 0-2 with a 10.00 ERA against the Cubs in two games giving up 15 H and 10 R. Morgain needs a trip back to the minors as soon as possible.

The Phils did win yesterday scoring a bunch of runs, they need to keep up that theme tonight as the ball will be flying well in Philly tonight with the great weather in the forecast for game time. In the three games against the Cubs so far this season, the Phils have been outscored by a total of 17-5.
