The best news to come out of Cincinnati this year is Pete Rose being inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2016
It's being billed as "Opening Night" on Sunday by the MLB, a night game matchup between the Mets and the Royals to pickup where the World Series left off nearly a half a year ago. Along the way though, two day games were added to the schedule and now people think that Sunday is actually Opening Day, which technically it is, but the MLB wants you to think Monday is actually the real Opening Day. Confused? Yes, thanks to a couple of day games added to the schedule we actually will have real baseball to watch all day on Sunday so we can be happy for that whatever the MLB calls it.
The Phillies though will begin their season on Monday at 4:10 PM in Cincinnati and the final cuts have been made to the Opening Day roster with a few surprises added to the mix. The starters will be Jeremy Hellickson for the Phils vs. Raisel Iglesias for the Reds.
Here's the 25 player roster that will start off the season for the Phillies:
5 players are on the DL: Aaron Altherr, Cody Asche, Matt Harrison, Mario Hollands, Michael Mariot
The surprise player to make the team is Cedric Hunter, who was a non-roster invitee to Spring Training. He impressed manager Pete Mackanin and was humbled by the opportunity and hopes to make the most of it.
