Weekend series with Washington

Tonight, the Phils face the flame thrower, Stephen Strasburg

The Washington Nationals (16-12) just wrapped up a short 2-game series in Houston and now they are in Philadelphia to take on the Philadelphia Phillies (13-13) for a weekend series. The Nats are flying along so far in the first full month of April, they set a new runs scored record for the team in April for the team's opening month (Mar/Apr).

Tonight it's a great pitching matchup of Cliff Lee and Stephen Strasburg. The Phillies have a couple days of rest with the rainout on Wednesday night, and the off-day on Thursday.

Stephen Strasburg comes in with 53 strikeouts and in second place in that category for the most strikeouts in the MLB just behind the league leader, Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins who has 55 total strikeouts already.

The weekend series has the Phillies pitching AJ Burnett on Saturday, and Cole Hamels again going for win #100 on Sunday for his career.

The Phillies need to start scoring more runs, they are 21st in the league in that category, they are also in 23rd place in pitching ERA at a total of 4.31 overall for the staff, mainly from the bullpen which has been horrible in the first month for the Phillies.
