Mike Trout and the Angels to make stop at Citizens Bank Park

The Los Angeles Angels just wrapped up a series with Toronto before coming to Philadelphia

He grew up in the South Jersey town of Millville, he became one of the best young baseball players to hit the big leagues in years. Of course he's Mike Trout and he is playing his first Major League Baseball game in Philadelphia for a brief two game series tonight and tomorrow afternoon.

How could the Phillies scouts have missed Mike Trout as he was only a 45 minute drive away from the Phillies home park? He was continually touted in the Atlantic City Press newspaper for his whole high school career, yet no one in the Phillies organization took note.

There have been players to make a big impact in a couple seasons and then fade away, but it appears that Mike Trout is in this for the long run. He recently signed a $144.5M deal with the Angels and bought his Mom a brand new luxury SUV for Mother's Day a couple days ago.

Trout made his Major League debut on July 11, 2011 and now nearly shy of 3 years later, he is one of the best, if not the best player in the league. He was Rookie of the Year in 2012 in the American League. He also has been a 2 year All-Star and won Silver Slugger awards for two years straight also.

If fact, with what he is already accomplished at this age, he is compared with names like Micky Mantle and Ted Williams and several more players who have become Hall of Fame players.

Despite having a lot of good free agents, the Los Angeles Angels haven't been able to do much. Their team reads like a who's who in baseball, players like Pujols, Hamilton, Freeze, and now Trout. As a team they haven't been able to gel together for post-season greatness for now.
