If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere...

Domonic Brown gets a hit against the NY Mets on Friday night

The Phillies needed a lift, they got one in NY on Friday night. In a close game the Phillies needed to win as they have been floundering lately, the team managed to put a 'W' in the win column in extra innings against the NY Mets and starter Jennry Mejia.

The Mets stranded 15 runners in the 11 inning game.

This was the start of a series of games in which the Mets play 16 of 19 in New York City, they have a 4 game series coming up with the Yankees, in which the Mets travel to the Bronx for 2 games, then the series shifts to Citi Field for 2 games after the Mets get done with this weekend series with the Phillies.

The Mets have a player that stayed with the Phillies all spring, only to be let go just before the start of the season. Bobby Abreu is on the Mets, he made a little noise for them already, he had a 2-run HR against the Miami Marlins. Abreu became only the second player at 40 years old who has hit a HR for the Mets since Gary Sheffield hit the first one in 2009.

Kyle Kendrick vs. Dillon Gee tonight at Citi in game 2 of the series.

Check out my talk with Gary Mack at Mets Musings Podcast for my take on how the Phillies will do in the series with the Mets.
