Phillies have quality start and win from Roy Halladay in return

Sometimes the baseball gods work in strange ways. The Phillies played their longest game ever at over 7 hours long last night, and the Phils used practically every pitcher available in the game, forcing the return of the great Roy Halladay, and Halladay would have wanted it this way and now it's reality.

There were a lot of question marks surrounding today's start by Roy Halladay for the Phillies. Would Roy be able to come straight to the major leagues when he was supposed to be starting for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs today? Would he be able to hold his own with the hot hitting Arizona Diamondbacks?

Those questions and more were answered today at Citizens Bank Park with Roy Halladay making his triumphant return to this team after being put on the DL, suffering shoulder inflammation on May 6th.

Halladay looked as though he never skipped a beat in being off most of the summer, his first pitch was a strike on the day and the Phillies offense took to hitting the cover off the ball to give Roy Halladay his career win 202 today and raised his season record to 3-4.

The Phillies have a $20M dollar option on Halladay next year, and I couldn't help but wonder if Roy Halladay wouldn't be a Phillies player after this year?
