Is Halladay's career coming to an abrupt end?

Halladay in happier times after winning game 18 in 2011

Roy Halladay knows there is something wrong, either he won't comment or he's trying to keep it from anyone who can help him. One thing is for sure, Roy Halladay isn't the same pitcher we have come to know and love before the start of this season.

Halladay went out to the mound today in Philadelphia on Mother's Appreciation Day at Citizen's Bank Park and he got absolutely shelled in the worst game of the 2013 season for him, and after giving up 8 ER in his previous start in Cleveland.

The simple question, Is Roy Halladay finished as a major league pitcher?

That may be hard to think that the answer is yes, but a player knows when it's time to retire, and this may be the time that Halladay will start think about this. It's gone way beyond looking for answers in his first few rough starts that he has endured this year, and now the question is, will Halladay start to consider retiring or is this something that the Phillies will let him continue to sort out, as he continuously is getting shelled by batters.

Halladay has had a great career and he started 410 games so far in his career, his last start was one of his worst ever, (he has given up 9 ER before twice and once even gave up 11 ER in one game in 1999) and that has people wondering if this is the end?

Here is Halladay's yearly numbers for his career (not counting the 9 ER on Sunday afternoon)

Halladay has given up 9 ER twice before in his career vs Texas in 5/5/07 and vs Oakland 4/25/00 - so should we be all that worried?

Here are the games that Halladay gave up 7 or more ER in one game, again Sunday's game is not included in this chart:
