Halladay looked ok in his start vs Pittsburgh but he is not the same Roy Halladay from years before. He looks very concerned in this interview with CSN Philly. He still is under a microscope.
The Phillies had some of the same problems that they have had over the last season, the bullpen gets the game that is close and they end up blowing the game for the team. The Pirates raised the Jolly Roger on the Phillies last night as they came back to beat the Phils by a score of 5-3.
In close game, Jimmy Rollins waited too long (that seemed like forever) before he tried to run home from third on a ground ball to third with a runner of first and was thrown out by a mile at home when the Phillies had a 2-1 lead on the Pirates. The Pirates broadcasters said that the play was 'hard to believe that a major leaguer would do something like that, and it was a boneheaded play' by Rollins.
That is what we've seen a lot of so far by this Phillies team early, errors and plays that are kind of embarrassing, for one reason or another it's happening to different players on different nights. Utley, Howard, and Rollins have been the latest trio that something like this has happened to in the last couple games.
Chase Utley hit a homerun last night in the first inning, it was the first homer off of a left handed pitcher this year by any Phillies batter, and Ryan Howard hit just his second homerun on the year in the 4th inning which gave the Philies a 2-1 lead. Both home runs went into the second deck in right field.
It's the businessperson's special this afternoon in Philly at 1:05 PM, maybe the sun will be what the Phillies need to help them win. The Phils look to salvage another series like they did with St. Louis in the four game series with them. After today's game it's off to New York for a weekend series, Monday is an off day and then onto Cleveland to face Brett Myers and the Indians.
