Phils to play Francona's Indians on Tuesday night

The Phillies will be meeting up with some familiar faces on Tuesday night in Cleveland. Tony Francona used to manage the Phillies from 1997 through the year 2000, back when the Phillies weren't that good of a team. To have two or three pitching aces on a Phillies team back then was unthinkable. It was also back in the days when the Phillies were still at Vet Stadium, probably when people were complaining the most about the decrepit conditions of the interior portions of the stadium.

Well, fast forward some 13 years later after Francona left the Phils, and Cleveland is where you'll find him. Only more than a year after he was jettisoned out of Boston in which he won 2 World Championships with the team in 8 years of managing the Red Sox. The Championship years came in 2004, the first year that Citizens Bank Park opened, and in 2007 for the Francona managed Red Sox teams. In 2008 and 2009, the Red Sox finished in second place in the division and then in 2010 and 2011, third place was as high as the Red Sox would finish and Francona was fired after the end of the season in 2011.

There will also be a few players on the Indians that some of the Phillies will be catching up with. Brett Myers, former ace, and bullpen pitcher for the Phillies is on the Indians this year, coming over from Houston. He is on the 15 day DL though, so the Phillies won't be facing him.

Michael Bourn used to be on the Phillies, but he is on the DL as well, he is eligible to return as early as Tuesday but he is not expected to be ready just yet.

Lou Marson used to be the Phillies top catching prospect, he is on the 15 day DL as well so it won't look like we'll be facing him either. Marson had a sore shoulder.

So the Philllies will be seeing some very familiar faces on this trip to Cleveland indeed. Let's see if they can continue their winning ways there.
