Blown out in LA, it's on Pap again

Papelbon said he was happy with his pitches, but bloop hits etc. are tough

The afternoon looked promising. Cliff Lee was mowing them down on the mound at Dodger Stadium, and the Phillies took a lead after failing to score with bases loaded in the 9th. The lead looked secure in extra innings, it was a two run cushion and the Phils looked like they would sweep this series and bring a happy plane back from the West coast for today's off day.

A two-run lead is generally a win when Jonathan Papelbon comes to the mound to close a game, but it just wasn't to be yesterday as Papelbon gave up the lead in extras and the Phils ended up losing the game that they were so close to winning.

It was Papelbon's 3rd blown save of the year, and the blown saves have all occured within the last month, of course the Phillies came back to win with Jim Thome's walk-off home run after one of the blown saves.

Two out of three ain't bad though, and the Phillies welcome the SF Giants in for a weekend series at home in Philly starting on Friday night.
