It was a great opening day for the Phillies yesterday in Pittsburgh, with the 1-0 win against Erik Bedard and the Pirates. Roy Halladay only surrendered 2 hits on the afternoon, and the Phillies did win the game by the score of 1-0.
It was a flashback to last year with the offense pretty much acting like it did on the losing end of the Phils vs Cardinals in the Division series last year, but a win is a win and we’ll take whatever we can get.
The largest crowd ever at Pittsburgh packed the stadium to see Opening Day, just under 40,000 saw the game at Pittsburgh’s home field.
Cliff Lee now gets his turn on the mound for Saturday night, which is the next game that the Phils play the Pirates. Cliff challenged Halladay for best pitcher on the team last year, and almost walked away with that crown.
