The Phillies brought some bats to the park last night as Hunter Pence returned to the lineup, Layne Nix launched a season best 3-3 with 2 RBI, Shane Victorino added a homerun to gain an 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.

Finally some good news to report about the offense with the Phillies, who have hovered near the bottom of the MLB in rankings of offense in all categories.

Hunter Pence was rumored to be injured, but the injury didn't prevent him from playing last night, and he started up the Phillies offense with a tremendous home run to right field that sailed 371 feet. Not to be outdone, Laynce Nix launched a 401 foot home run in the same inning to pace the Phillies to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Arizona wasn't in the mood to just lay down and lose in this game, the Diamondbacks stormed back and added 5 runs in the game, but it wasn't enough to catch the Phillies on this night.

Just yesterday, SI announced that Hunter Pence was out with an arm injury, you can link to that story in the bottom of this post, with a new feature that we have here on the blog. That info proved to be partially right, Pence had a minor injury that caused him to miss 1 game.

It's Cole Hamels today for the Phillies at 3:40 PM local time, with the getaway afternoon game that brings the Phillies home for a long weekend 4-game series with the Chicago Cubs.
