Valdez leaves Phils for the Reds

Reds pick up a good utility man in Valdez

Wilson Valdez probably won't be an MLB all-star any time soon. His play on the Phillies though, was good enough for him to pitch in and help the team when it most needed it. The Phillies traded Valdez away yesterday to the Cincinnati Reds.

This stint wasn't the first stop in Wilson's career. Valdez has made his rounds around the league but I think the Phillies will miss his contributions this season.

The Phillies landed a pitcher named Jeremy Horst, a minor leaguer, Horst got some playing time last year with the Reds and his numbers don't impress. In 15.1 innings, he gave up 18 hits, 5 ER, of which two were HR, and walked 6. On the bright side, Horst struck out 9.
