November arrives- Spring only 5 months away, Baseball goes to Taiwan

It's November, and that means that it's only 5 months until the Spring Training season starts up again in 2012. If we're more optimistic than that it's only about 4 months until players start to report in 2012, so the offseason isn't as long as we think it is. A lot of off the field action happens in those winter months we're about to get into.

There is a group of MLB 'All Stars' and I use that quote with emphasis that it's not your typical MLB All-Star team that has traveled over to Taiwan to take part in a week long baseball exhibition series there. Games will be rebroadcast on the MLB Network all this week. The team is being managed by Bruce Bochy and it seems like everything is going well as Curtis Granderson hit a grandslam in today's game in Taiwan.

Here's some of things going on this month on the MLB baseball schedule for November 2011:

NOV. 1, 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series, MLB All-Stars vs. Chinese Taipei national team, New Taipei City (Xinzhuang Stadium)

NOV. 3-4, 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series, MLB All-Stars vs. Chinese Taipei national team, Taichung (Intercontinental Stadium)

NOV. 5-6, 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series, MLB All-Stars vs. Chinese Taipei national team, Kaohsiung (Chengcing Lake Stadium)

NOV. 14, 2011 AL, NL Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Awards announced NOV. 15, 2011 AL Cy Young Award announced

NOV. 16, 2011 AL, NL Manager of the Year Awards announced

NOV. 17, 2011 NL Cy Young Award announced NOV. 18, 2011 Day to file reserve lists for all Major and Minor League levels.

NOV. 21, 2011 AL Most Valuable Player Award announced

NOV. 22, 2011 NL Most Valuable Player Award announced

NOV. 23, 2011 Last date for former club to offer salary arbitration to ranked XX(B) free agents in order to be eligible for compensation. Deadline is midnight.

There is also a lot going on with contracts and negotiations. More on that regarding the Phillies as the news filters out on it.
