Mayberry and Victorino lead Phillies to victory over Rockies

John Mayberry Jr. is the future of the Phillies. He showed that again last night as his home run tied the game in Denver when the Phils were down 3-1 in the top of the 9th inning. It was a pinch hit home run for Mayberry.

Shane Victorino did the rest, he hit a home run the very next inning in the 10th, and the Phillies won this one 4-3. Cole Hamels only gave up 2 runs, but couldn’t get the win last night as the Phils were trailing when he was lifted in the 6th inning.

After the game the Rockies’ Chris Iannetta had this to say about the Phils, “[Philadelphia] played like the best team in baseball, but we had our chances.”

The Phillies visit to Denver continues tonight at 8:40pm again, with Kyle Kendrick on the mound for the Phils and then Roy Halladay wraps up tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 pm ET with the Phils travelling onto San Francisco after that game.
