Mayberry Jr. hits 2 HR upon return in Florida, 3 games left until All Star Break

Mayberry 2 HR

Mayberry just hits the first of his 2 HR last night in Florida

I don’t think there is any doubt now that John Mayberry Jr. deserves to be playing in the MLB. His return last night saw him hit 2 home runs to left field which isn’t too easy to do with that 26 foot high wall out there.

The Phils seemed to be on pace to win this ballgame but the Marlins crept back and won it in 10 innings behind a Mike Stanton home run, his first in his last 84 AB’s. It was Stanton’s 17th on the season.

We have until today to vote Shane Victorino into the All Star Game, vote up to 4 PM today to get Shane in here! Shane has a sprained right thumb, and even if he is voted to the All Star Game, it would be questionable if he could play in it now.

The Phillies injury bug is starting to bite at them again, with Oswalt, Victorino and Placido Polanco now injured. The All Star Break will be a great time for the whole team to get some rest, but Polly and Victorino (possibly) are the Phillies representatives in the All Star Game, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

An off day today, and then just 3 more games at home vs. the Atlanta Braves and the Phillies are in the All Star Break. After the All Star Break only a couple weeks are left until the trade deadline.

The Braves have kept pace with the Phillies lately with a 52-36 record and are only 3.0 GB in the NL East, despite the Phillies having a great run to the All Star Break, and the best record in the league.
