Lee wins 5th in front of 45,777 at CBP

We didn’t see the best that the Dodgers can do last night, then again we didn’t really see the best of the Phillies but as it’s been a lot of the year for the Phillies, it was good enough for the win by a score of 3-1 last night.

Another record attendance for the now in the 8th season of Citizens Bank Park, the 2nd largest crowd ever 45,777 watched Phillies baseball last night at the park. It seems that no record is safe in that department lately. The largest crowd ever at CBP? It happened last month on Chase Utley’s return to the team when 45,841 packed into the stadium to watch baseball.

Here’s some trivia for you, what was the largest crowd ever at Veteran’s Stadium? 63,816 on July 3rd, 1984 for the fireworks display, that attendance is the record at Veteran’s Stadium. The Phils lost that one, 6-5 to Cincinnati, Jerry Koosman, yes that Jerry Koosman who was with the Mets forever, got the loss for the Phils. Jerry was 41 years old at the time. Koosman also pitched in 1985 for the Phillies, he started 18 games and finished with a 6-4 record and 4.62 ERA at age 42.

Want to relive any baseball game in history? Go to www.backtobaseball.com and enter in the date of the game and the opponents. There is a graphical display that plays the game out as it was. The site makes no guarantee that it is 100 percent accurate, but it is really cool to check out old games in this way.

Game 2 tonight between the Dodgers and the Phillies. The Phils now (36-24) have Roy Oswalt (3-3 2.70 ERA) heading to the mound tonight. The Phils will face a hard throwing Rubby De La Rosa (1-0 1.80 ERA) who is starting his first ML game tonight for the Dodgers. The Dodgers are now 28-33 on the season.
