FightinPhillies.com picks for the All Star Game 2011

All Star Ballot 2011

It’s fun to pick the All Star Game players, even though I think some of the picks may be purely done by fans picking their favorite players over the one that would be best at that game representing either the National or American League.

With that in mind, I give you the FightinPhillies.com picks for the All Star Game 2011, remember voting ends on Thursday so get to your favorite team’s site and get your vote in. Vote for your favorite Phillies here.

American League Picks:

1st Base: Paul Konerko - White Sox(tough one to pick, it’s really a 4 way tie)
2nd Base: Robinson Cano – Yankees
Shortstop: Asdrubal Cabrera – Indians
3rd Base: Adrian Beltre – Texas
Catcher: Alex Avila – Tigers
DH: Hideki Matsui – Athletics
Outfield: (3) Jose Bautista – Jays
  Curtis Granderson – Yankees
  Carlos Quentin – White Sox

National League Picks:

1st Base: Prince Fielder – Brewers
2nd Base: Brandon Phillips – Reds
Shortstop: Jose Reyes – Mets
3rd Base: Placido Polanco – Phillies
Outfielders: (3) Matt Kemp – Dodgers
  Ryan Braun – Brewers
  Hunter Pence – Astros

That is what they ask you for on the official voting form as seen above.
Additionally they ask you to pick for the Home Run Derby Fan Poll by selecting 3 players from each league from 10 players in each league. Here are my picks:

National League Home Run Derby players:

Ryan Howard
Prince Fielder
Joey Votto

American League Home run Derby players:

Josh Hamilton
Mark Teixeira
Adam Dunn

  1. somehow you managed to skip Lance Berkman, Justin Upton, Shane Victorino, Mike Stanton, Andre Ethier, Jay Bruce, and Andrew McCutchen who all have higher OPSes than Hunter Pence.

You also managed to misspell Quentin.

  2. Yes, you've named some good picks there as well, but the official ballot only allows you to select three. This pick doesn't go by OPS alone.

These are just my picks for the All-Star Game, and as mentioned in my post may be influenced by other factors.

I may have misspelled Quentin, but I spelled Asdrubal's name correctly, and that wasn't easy.
