Phils limp out of Washington, face Marlins Tuesday night

The Phillies limped out of Washington with only one win out of the three game series. The good news is the Braves have finally started to loss with regularity. Now only 2.5 GB stands between the Phillies and first place.

The bad news about yesterday's win was an injury to Ryan Howard. Howard barreled around 2nd base on a bloop hit by Ben Francisco into right field. Where was Howard going though? The ball was weakly hit and dropped into right field and Howard would have never made 3rd base. The Nats right fielder just made a snap throw to 2nd base and nearly got Howard out, the play made Howard leap back to 2nd base awkwardly and he sprained his ankle in the process.

The Phils now head down to Florida, on Tuesday night they face the 53-52 Marlins. The Marlins are hanging around the NL East looking for an opportunity to move up in the standings as they are 7.5 GB right now. The Phils will have their ace on the mound on Tuesday. Who's that you might ask now that the Phillies have 3 legitimate aces? Roy Halladay of course, he brings his 128 record and 2.21 ERA back down to Florida, the scene where he pitched his Perfect Game.
