The Phillies looked as if they were a team that was on a slide in game 1 of the series with the Mets. It was one of the worst losses that the team suffered so far this year. It set off an alarm with Charlie Manuel and other players that something needed to happen.
That something looked like a landslide as the Phillies got super pitching from Roy Halladay and great hitting from the offense as the Phils whooped up on the Mets 10-0 in Game 2. Scoring for the Phillies started in the bottom of the 4th inning. Jayson Werth started with an RBI single scoring Chase Utley, and Juan Castro kept the inning going with a 2 RBI double and then Shane Victorino got a big 3 run HR in the same inning for the Phillies off of Mike Pelfrey. It would be Pelfrey’s first loss of the season.
Now we look forward to tonight’s ESPN Sunday Night Baseball telecast with the Mets and the Phillies. The Mets will throw their best pitcher at the Phillies tonight and that would be Johan Santana.
For many years, the Phillies were never on Sunday Night Baseball, but now in the past two years they are on a few times a year. It gives the team a better national exposure and gives the players a national stage in which to show their talents.
