Kyle Lohse 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA
Roy Halladay 5-1 with a 1.47 ERA
Yes, it’s true. Every 5th day feels like a holiday in Philadelphia. We like to call it a ‘Halladay’. Today, Roy Halladay will face the toughest lineup yet in his first tour around the National League. The St. Louis Cardinals seem like they are on the road to doing something great this year. The Cards are 18-10 on the season, and they will put Kyle Lohse on the mound today. Lohse has a perfect 2-0 record against the Phillies pitching at Citizens Bank Park.
The Cardinals and the Phillies will only face each other in two series this year, the other coming in July from the 19th-22nd at St. Louis. Many have predicted the Phils will face the Cardinals in the playoffs later this year.
Kyle Lohse is the only Cardinals starter without a win yet this year. Kyle also hasn’t allowed a homerun yet either. He has 3 no decision games this year, this is his 6th start of the season for the Cards.
The Phillies are spreading the leadership on offense around. Shane Victorino leads the club with 23 RBI, Chase Utley leads the club in HR with 8, and Jayson Werth is leading with a .337 BA for batters over 75 AB’s. The sleeping giant, Ryan Howard, is still due to break out of a slump, since Monday he’s been 1-11 with a .091 BA. He has still to make himself known in this series in which he is often compared with the Cardinals first baseman, Albert Pujols. Pujols hasn’t been that much better since Monday he has a 3-13 and .231 BA.
The Phillies have a chance at sweeping the Cardinals this afternoon. It will be a 1:05 PM start, the Phillies call this game a ‘Business Person’s Special”.
