Late Power Surge Wrecks Rockies

Every 5th Day is a Halladay!

Game 1 of this series in Colorado was a see-saw battle, the score went back and forth all night. Kyle Kendrick didn’t look sharp, and a 39 year old Jason Giambi was having the best game of his 2010 season for the Rockies with 3 RBI on the night.

It wasn’t until the 9th inning when the Phillies would unleash the power from the offense and with a 4 run production, a long (391 feet) Ross Gload 3 run home run sealed the victory.

The Phillies star of the game had to be Carlos Ruiz, he went 4-5 on the night with 2 RBI. Ruiz hit a mammath 414 foot homerun in the top of the 6th to bring the score back to 4-4, then late in the game, Ruiz hit a top of the 9th single that scored Ryan Howard, and then later in the inning pinch hitter Ross Gload unloaded a home run scoring Ibanez and Ruiz for a three run blast. It was Gload’s first home run on the season.

It will be Roy Halladay going for the Phillies tonight, against Aaron Cook. This is Aaron Cook’s 9th year with the Rockies, he’s 1-3 with a 6.03 ERA so far.
