Hamels to battle weather this afternoon on Mom’s Day

The Mother’s Day game is a special one for a lot of people. All Women, 15 and older, will be getting a nice scarf to celebrate Mother’s Day today at Citizens Bank Park. The previous two years it’s been blankets, it would have been so fitting to have another blanket this year as it’s going to be very chilly at the ballpark this afternoon.

Cole Hamels will be battling not only the Braves, but the wind and cool temperatures today at the park. Hamels brings his 2-2 record into today’s ballgame in a season that is still young, but one that Hamels does not have the record to prove that he’s turned things around yet from last year’s performances.

There has been a couple games where the Phillies didn’t support Cole with runs, but there has been also as many games that Hamels hasn’t gotten the job done. It’s something that doesn’t seem to be getting better, whether it’s the fault of pitching coach, Rich Dubee, or perhaps it all lies with Hamels.

The Braves took game 2 in the series with the Phillies yesterday afternoon, let’s hope the Phillies continue their streak winning series. The Phillies have won the last two series with St. Louis and the NY Mets, so they’ll try to make it 3 series in a row this afternoon.
