It seems like everytime Cole Hamels pitches, the Phillies have trouble scoring runs. Last night was no different, the Phils offense put up one run on the board and that was enough to win the game at Citizen's Bank Park. It was the first time all year that the Phillies won a game 1-0.
Prior to last night's win, Cole had been winless in his last 5 starts for the Phillies. In Cole's 8 losses on this season, the Phils have scored a total of 16 runs combined in all those games. All of his problems haven't been caused by the lack of Phillies offense, but a large majority of it has been that. Last night though, Cole looked like he did during his best of performances from last year. He went the distance and threw a 2 hitter and put a win in the column to even his record to 8-8 and lowering his ERA to 4.26.
With the win last night the Phils are 11-6 vs. San Francisco at Citizen's Bank Park since CBP opened. They were 104-78 against the Giants at Veteran's Stadium.
Did you know? (before last night's game)
The Phillies bullpen is tied for 2nd place in wins at 23 in the NL
The Phillies bullpen is 9th in the NL in ERA at 3.95
