Phillies face resurgent Rockies for 3 games

The Phillies still remember the 3-0 washout of them in 2007 in the first round of the playoffs, that was courtesy of tonight’s opponent, the Colorado Rockies. I hope the Phillies return the favor in this series and send the Rockies on their way with broom marks on them.

The fact is the Colorado Rockies have surprised a few people and even just moved into sole possession of second place behind the Dodgers in the NL West. The Rockies are 58-47 and 6.5 games behind the Dodgers. They are in a race for the wild card at the moment, and if they keep playing the way they have been, the Dodgers better look out for them in the stretch of late September.

The Phillies will send the quiet but effective Jamie Moyer to the mound on Tuesday night, and he is seeking to add to his club high win total of 10 games going into tonight’s game. Moyer never toots his own horn, and people are quick to jump on him if he doesn’t do well, but for the last couple of years, Moyer has been one of the Phillies best pitchers while not gathering all the spotlight.

The Rockies swept Cincinnati on the road before coming to Philly. They go back to Coors Field after this series, come on Phillies open that can of whip-ass on them and send them home with a sore behind!
