Phils ride into San Francisco with fresh troops

The mysterious Golden Gate Bridge in the fog

The Phillies took 2 out of 3 from the Arizona Diamondbacks and will be joined by their latest acquistions in San Fran later today. Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco will join the team and Lee could be starting as soon as Saturday for the Phillies.

The Giants meanwhile picked up yet another player from the Pittsburgh Pirates fire sale, Freddy Sanchez is now a Giant. How can you like Pittsburgh when they do nothing but always trade their best players away from the team? The move strenghtens the Giants infield as they are making a push towards the playoffs by catching the Dodgers.

The Phillies will face two of the best Giants pitchers, Tim Lincecum, and Barry Zito on this road trip. No announcement if Cliff Lee will be penciled in to start against Lincecum rather than Moyer on Saturday, but we will see. I think the Phillies would rather bump Moyer than Hamels who is scheduled to pitch Sunday.

Sunday's game has a change as the game has been selected for telecast nationwide on TBS and here is the announcement from the Phillies official site the time remains the same:

The Phillies game at the San Francisco Giants on August 2 has been selected for TBS Sunday Afternoon Baseball. The game will be blacked out locally and will air on myphl17. The game will air at 4:05 p.m. EDT.

In addition, The Charlie Manuel Show and W.B. Mason Behind the Pinstripes will air on myphl17 at 3:00 p.m. EDT and 3:30 p.m. EDT, respectively.

All Phillies games can be heard on WPHT 1210 AM and WUBA 1480 AM (Spanish).

It will be an interesting series with the Giants!
