Kris Benson is almost back to Major League pitching, his wife is his best fan!
Adam Eaton has been not good all year long. The performance tonight solidifies this, and further points to why he was left off the post season roster last year. Is Eaton finished as a starter? All things point to yes! He's ineffective, can't locate his pitches properly and generally pitches poorly most of the time. What does he care? He's got a fat contract making too much money, much more than he's worth.
Another thing that dawned on me tonight is the lack of support from the Phillies pitching coach, Rich Dubee. All throughout the night Eaton was getting rocked, not once did Dubee go out and try to settle Eaton down, tell him that he can get out of the inning, nothing. Why is this, does Dubee need Manuel's permission to go out there and visit his pitcher? This is odd, can the negatives of the pitching staff be pointing right back to Dubee, if Eaton didn't get any support on the mound in front of 40,000 people, does he get anything from Dubee when nobody is around? That support is what a pitching coach should be doing period. Dubee where are you???? Dubee, Dubee, do??????
Get Myers back to starting pitcher status, and send Eaton down to get a taste of the minors, he went 10-10 for the Phillies last year, but he'll go 5-16 for the Phils if they let Eaton go for much longer without either helping him out, or putting him down to the minors. Eaton's pitches are lacking pop, lacking movement, and hitters are swatting him like it was batting practice.
